The Kwazulu-Natal MEC for Transport, Community Safety and Liaison Mr Bheki Ntuli will tomorrow (22 October 2019) embark on Operation Siyahlola of the intermodal transport facility in Umzimkhulu.
Part of the MEC’s visit is to ascertain if this R82 million transport intermodal facility has provided empowerment opportunities through awarding of contracts to emerging SMME’s, jobs and training to the local youth. Upon completion, the facility will house all modes of public transport, making it easily accessible to the public and giving them shelter in severe weather conditions.
MEC Ntuli will be accompanied by the local leadership and the stakeholders will inspect the facility and then give them a brief progress report of the facility. The local leadership will also have an opportunity to engage the MEC on other challenges that require the MEC’s attention.
