The MEC for Arts, Culture Sports and Recreation, Ms Hlengiwe Mavimbela representing the KwaZulu-Natal MEC for Transport, Community Safety and Liaison, Mr Bheki Ntuli today (24/10/2019) attended the memorial services of 5 municipal officials from the Jozini Municipality.
The crash occurred on the N2 in the Mfekayi area between Mtubatuba and Hluhluwe on Saturday night (19/10/2019). It is alleged that a minibus belonging to the Jozini Municipality collided into the rear-most axle of the last trailer of a heavy motor vehicle leaving five (2 males and 3 females) people dead, while four were critically injured and three escaped with minor injuries. The injured passengers were rushed to a medical facility in Richards Bay to receive medical care.
The memorial service was attended by MEC for Arts, Culture Sports and Recreation, Ms Hlengiwe Mavimbela, Umkhanyakude District Municipality Mayor, Cllr Solomon Mkhombo, Jozini Local Municipality Mayor, Cllr Delani Mabika, Umkhanyakude District Municipality Speaker, Cllr Solomon Msane, traditional leaders, members of the interfaith and municipal officials.
