On duty Ethekwini Municipality employee murdered in Ottawa – KZN

An engineer was shot and killed in the presence of his colleague at the Waste Water Management Center on Old Main Road in Ottawa – KZN.

At approximately 15:50 members of Reaction Unit, South Africa was called out to the scene by the victim’s colleagues who heard the shot being fired. Upon arrival, Medics found that the victim was fatally injured after he had sustained a single gunshot wound to the forehead.

According to his colleagues, there were approximately 15 to 20 people in the building when the shooting occurred. The deceased was in an office with a female colleague when she noticed through a glass window two men walking towards her office.

One of the suspects knocked on her door which the victim answered. The gunmen asked for him by name before he was shot. The suspects then fled onto a railway line through a broken concrete fence at the rear of the property. Reaction Officers are currently searching for the suspects.

The motive for the murder has not been established at this stage.
