Man injured after driveway gate derails in Waterloo

A 66-year-old man was seriously injured after a driveway gate fell on him at a supermarket in Waterloo, Verulam.

Members of the Reaction Unit, South Africa arrived at the scene and found the man bleeding excessively from his injuries. Paramedics stabilized him before rapidly transporting him to hospital by ambulance.

It was established that the victim is employed at an abattoir based in Newcastle. He was at the store delivering meat when the driveway gate at the receiving entrance derailed and fell on him.

Witnesses lifted the gate and removed him to safety before contacting RUSA for assistance.
