Police Commissioner in Mpumalanga sends his condolences to families of SAPS members who recently lost their lives in three separate incidents.

Mpumalanga police Commissioner, Lieutenant General Mondli Zuma, has sent his condolences to the families of members who lost their lives in three separate accidents. These members are 56-year-old Lieutenant Colonel Brian Tsela (Komatipoort VIS), 42-year-old Sergeant Piet Khoza (Mbuzini SAPS) and 33-year-old Const Mathomu Madzhadzhi (Vosman SAPS).

“I would like to express my deepest condolences to the families of our members who died in separate motor vehicle accidents that occurred on 06, 07, 09 December 2019 and may their precious souls rest in peace. The three had dedicated their lives to serve in the SAPS as well as ensuring that every single person in Mpumalanga is and feel safe,” said General Zuma.

The General further highlighted that the members died during a critical moment and time whereby the province has just launched the Festive Season Operation under the theme “Zizojika Izinto” and their expertise as well as experience was needed most.

General Zuma pointed out that in three days’ time police trainees will be passing out from the police colleges. These novices, according to the General, will be placed at various stations and specialised units in the Province to bolster service delivery and increase manpower as well as offer them an opportunity to put into practice what they have learned. The three that passed on, were some of the experienced as well as dedicated members that were going to be useful in guiding and transferring skills to these young constables.

General Zuma therefore urges members of the SAPS as well as the public to drive cautiously during this time of the year, especially with rain that is continuously pouring which result in slippery roads. The public is also urged not to try crossing overflowing bridges and to look after their children by not allowing them to play in the rivers or dams.
