Six people were injured in a head-on collision between two light motor vehicles near the Verkeerdevlei Toll Plaza, north of Bloemfontein, around midday today.
ER24 paramedics arrived at 12:10 to find Provincial Emergency Services already treating some of the injured. Three people had been ejected from the white light motor vehicle and two were found still inside – all had suffered serious to critical injuries and were transported to Pelonomi Hospital by provincial EMS, ER24 and another private service for further care.
Two people were found in the second vehicle – the driver was fortunately uninjured, however, the passenger had suffered serious injuries, was treated using Advanced Life Support interventions before being taken to Mediclinic Bloemfontein for further care.
The South African Police Services, as well as the Traffic Department, were on scene for further investigations.
