EASTERN CAPE – King William’s Town-Somerset East Stock theft Unit were conducting waylay duties on some major routes within their cluster when they arrested four male suspects aged between 30-33 years for stock theft.
The suspects were driving a Quantum loaded with (27) sheep when police intercepted them. Another seventeen (17) sheep were still kept in a makeshift kraal making a total of 44 sheep recovered. The owner, Mr Fick from Greenlands farm positively identified the stolen sheep as his property. The vehicle used in the crime was confiscated by the Assett Forfeiture Unit.
All suspects are expected to appear at Somerset East Magistrate’s Court tomorrow, 11 February 2020.
Eastern Cape Provincial Commissioner, Lt Gen Liziwe Ntshinga commended the members for the speedy arrest. “We must ensure that we monitor closely all these major routes and make it uncomfortable for stock thieves,” said Provincial Commissioner.
