The body of an unidentified man was discovered by a passerby along the westbound lane of the M25 next to the Newtown Bridge in the vicinity of KwaMashu.
At approximately 08:52 the Reaction Unit South Africa Phoenix Operations Center received a call from a passerby who made the discovery while taking a short cut. On arrival, the individual was found in the overgrown grass next to the pathway. He sustained multiple penetrating wounds to his abdomen, chest and back. A blood trail (picture 3) was discovered leading from the pathway to the top of the bridge. A post-mortem will confirm if the deceased was shot or stabbed.
The identity of the deceased has not been established at this stage.
