DURBAN – Police officers from the Pietermaritzburg K9 Unit arrested four suspects and recovered a shotgun with ammunition. Police were conducting operations in the Alexandra Road policing precinct when they spotted a group of men in a vehicle at a service station on Alan Paton Road in the early hours of this morning.

Police approached the suspects and a search was conducted. A shotgun was recovered and all four suspects aged between 23 and 37 were immediately arrested. They were charged for being in illegal possession of a firearm and ammunition.

Police investigations revealed that prior to the arrest, the suspects had entered a home at KwaChief location in Mpophomeni and attempted to shoot a 34-year-old man.
