Trio detectives arrested a 32-year-old suspect for murder, attempted murder, possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition corner Mooi and Albertina Sisulu Street on the 06th of May 2020 at 12:30.
Police were following up information about a silver Chevrolet involved in business robberies around the Johannesburg CBD. They saw a male coming out from the vehicle and he was cornered. They recovered an unlicensed firearm with no serial and live ammunition. He resisted to be arrested and his accomplice shot at the police, two bystanders were shot at.
One of the victims was taken to the hospital by an ambulance while a 25-year-old male victim was certified dead on the scene by the paramedics. He was shot once in the upper body.
One suspect is still at large and a police investigation is underway. The firearm will be sent to ballistic testing to ascertain if it was not used in the commission of serious and violent crimes.
The suspect will appear soon in the Johannesburg Magistrate Court.
