Man arrested, dagga valued R72 380, 00 recovered in Northern Cape

On Wednesday members of Upington Border Police, Paballelo station and Upington K9 received information about drugs being transported to Upington on two busses and followed up on the information.

During their search, they found 10,340kg of dagga to the value of R72, 380.00 hidden in a black suitcase belonging to a 50-year-old.

Cash to the amount of R4250.00 and a cell phone to the value of R3000 were also confiscated.

On the second bus another suspect, a 64-year-old South African was also arrested when a bag belonging to him was found to contain 900 Mandrax tablets with an estimated street value of R90, 000.00. Cash to the amount of R3990, 00 was also confiscated. Both suspects will soon appear in the Upington magistrate on the relevant charges.
Police investigations continue.
