At approximately 18:17 yesterday (Sunday) members of Reaction Unit, South Africa (RUSA) were called out to a residence on Lemonwood Road in Trenance Park, Verulam after neighbors found the house on fire.
On arrival Reaction Officers found that the ceiling in part of the home was on fire. The Ethekwini Fire & Rescue Services were called to the scene and on arrival extinguished the blaze. The house was extensively damaged in the blaze.
According to residents in the area, the house is abandoned and a squatter was known to reside in the ceiling. It could not be confirmed as to how the fire had started.
No one was located in the residence and no injuries were reported.
