Members of Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) have conducted an extensive search for three armed suspects who robbed five men on a railway line in Canelands – Verulam today (Monday).
At approximately 13:25 Reaction Officers were on patrol on Old Main Road in the vicinity of Canelands Library when they were flagged down by the victims who explained that they had been robbed by three suspects while walking from Thunder Town to the Verulam CBD. Two suspects were armed with pistols and the third was in possession of a revolver and a cane knife.
The victims who are all friends were asked to lie on the railway track while being searched and robbed of their cellphones & R1200 in cash. One of the suspects addressed the victim by his name while he assaulted the men with a cane knife. The suspects then fled the scene on foot.
Reaction Officers conducted and extensive search for the gunmen however they remain at large.
