DURBAN – A 20-year-old man is set to appear in the Durban Magistrate’s Court today for contravention of the Medicines Control Act 101 of 1965.
On 22 July 2020 at 13:30, detectives from the Provincial Organised Crime Investigation Unit conducted an intelligence-driven operation along the M4 Freeway northbound. Following a rigorous investigation, they stopped a vehicle and conducted a search. During a search of the vehicle, police discovered 54 medicine containers labeled as Mylan Alprazolam (Zanex) covered with a big jacket. The suspect failed to produce necessary documents for the drugs when he was questioned. He was immediately arrested and detained at the Umbilo police station.
The Provincial Commissioner in KwaZulu-Natal, Lieutenant General Khombinkosi Jula commended detectives from the Provincial Organised Crime Investigation Unit for the arrest.
