Apartment catches alight following an explosion in Phoenix

An apartment on the upper level of an outbuilding was extensively damaged during a fire.

The Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) Phoenix Operations Center received multiple calls from residents of Cotford
Place in Sunford reporting an explosion. On arrival Reaction Officers found firefighters from the Ethekwini Fire Department extinguishing the blaze that rapidly spread through an upper level apartment of an outbuilding. The cause of the fire or explosion was not determined.

Tenants who occupy the flat were not at home at the time of the incident.
