Two occupants of a Renault Kangoo were injured after the vehicle they were travelling in overturned multiple times and landed at the base of an embankment on the southbound lane of the R102 between the Verulam and Ottawa intersection today (Sunday).
Members of Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) were called out to the scene at approximately 12:03 by a passerby. On arrival the extensively damaged vehicle was found in a bush at the base of an embankment. The two occupants suffered moderate injuries and were transported to a local hospital by ambulance.
The driver claimed that while travelling down the R102 an unknown vehicle overtook him but due to the right lane being occupied the vehicle swerved back into his lane. In an attempt to avoid a collision he swerved but lost control of his vehicle which left the road and overturned multiple times.
The vehicle responsible for the accident did not stop on scene.
