DURBAN – The quick reaction by members of Durban Central SAPS led to the arrest of a 30-year-old suspect. He will appear in the Durban Magistrate Court today facing robbery charges.
It is alleged that yesterday at 20h50 the police officers were conducting a roadblock when they received a report of a robbery at the corner of West and William Street. They proceeded to the area and found the victim at the scene. The victim was able to point out one of the suspects who were in close proximity to the incident.
Police arrested the suspect, who was found in possession of a knife. The victim, who was stabbed by the suspects, was conveyed to a local hospital for medical attention. The suspect will also be profiled to establish as to whether he is linked to other robberies in the Durban CBD.
The KwaZulu-Natal Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General Jula commended the quick response of the police officers that led to the arrest of the suspect.
