In Commemoration of Women’s month as part of government’s national calendar of events, the Junior Management Core led by the SAPS Senior Management embarked on an awareness campaign at Palmietfontein and Majuba Village in Sterkspruit today, 22 August 2020, to address crimes targeted to women including Gender Based violence, domestic violence and crimes against humanity including witchcraft.
The areas have been discovered to be hot spots as per the provincial crime analysis and statistics, with reported cases of Gender Based Violence and necromancy.
The objective of the campaign was to address these issues and to engage with the vast community to root out the misconceptions and causes of these crimes threatening the existing and vulnerable female gender in our society.
Members from Crime Prevention’s Domestic Violence section, Men For Change and Women’s nertwork structures, Crime Prevention Youth Desk and delegation from the Joe Gqabi District’s Community Policing forum (CPF) also formed part of the awareness campaign.
