Two men in court for possession of dagga

DURBAN: 30 September 2020 – Operations to clean-up our streets from drug dealers are still ongoing in the province. This was followed by the arrest of two suspects who were found in possession of dagga. Police officers from Paulpietersburg SAPS acted on intelligence yesterday, which indicated that the suspects who were in a bakkie were traveling through Paulpietersburg.

A special operation was staged and the vehicle was intercepted. Upon searching the vehicle, police found parcels of compressed dagga, which weighed 20kg. Two suspects aged 19 and 20 were placed under arrest and charged for possession of dagga. The estimated street value of the dagga is R95 000-00. The suspects are appearing at the Paulpietersburg Magistrate’s Court today.

“We will continue with such operations to fight the drug trade in our province,” said the Acting KwaZulu-Natal Provincial Commissioner, Major General Thulani Gonya.
