53-year old Non-Fatal Drowning on Ballito Beach, airlifted to hospital for further care

IPSS Medical Rescue responded to a Ballito beach, for reports of a drowning in progress.

On arrival, it was established that a member of the public had assisted a 53-year old man that had gotten into difficulty, whilst swimming in the sea.

The man showed symptoms of non-fatal drowning and was receiving first aid from lifeguards. IPSS paramedics initiated advanced life support intervention on the man, whilst the Air Mercy Service specialised air ambulance was activated.

The man was flown to Lenmed Ethekweni hospital to an awaiting specialist.
