WESTERN CAPE – A 25-year-old male was arrested by members of SAPS Steenberg Visible Policing at about 10:00 today, on charges of possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition. The members who are committed to removing illegal firearms and ammunition from the community acted on information they have received and proceeded to the address in Choppin Street in Retreat. According to the information, the suspect was keeping an illegal firearm at the address.
During the search of the premises, the members found a firearm and 11 rounds of ammunition hidden under a mattress.
The suspect will appear in Wynberg Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 02 November 2020.
