DURBAN – A multi-disciplinary operation that comprises of Plessislaer SAPS, Alexandra Road Vehicle Identification Section, Mounted Unit and Pietermaritzburg Highway Patrol was carried out over the weekend.
The operation, which started in the early hours of 29 October 2020 until yesterday morning yielded positive results when a total of three stolen vehicles were recovered. The three vehicles were found at premises in KwaMncane area in Elandskop and a suspect was placed under arrest. Two of the vehicles were taken during a business robbery in the Plessislaer policing precinct this month.
The third vehicle was impounded for further investigation after it was found that the engine was tampered with. A 54-year-old suspect was placed under arrest for possession of the stolen property. The suspect is appearing today before the Pietermaritzburg Magistrate’s Court.
The KwaZulu-Natal Provincial Commissioner Khombinkosi Jula commended the police officers for the recovery of vehicles. “These operations will continue in the province to curb vehicle crime related cases,” he said.
