Ex-Boyfriend Arrested For Housebreaking in Mount View in KZN

A 32 year old male sought by Law Enforcement has been arrested by Members of Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) in Verulam – KZN this afternoon.

A Reaction Officer on patrol in Mt View (14:56 Thursday) noticed a male seated in the left passenger seat of a white VW Golf 1. The passenger fitted the description of a suspect sought for Housebreaking & Theft valued at R10 000 from his ex-girlfriend’s home in the same area.

The Reaction Officer contacted the complainant and provided a detailed description of the passenger. He was identified as her ex-boyfriend who was seeing fleeing her home with valuables days after they had ended the relationship. Officers found the complainants sim card in the suspects pocket.

According to the woman, the suspect was asked to move out of her residence after he verbally & physically abused her son from a previous relationship. He also attempted to stab her. She obtained a restraining order and removed him from her home.

The woman explained that on Saturday 28/11/2020 she was out shopping and returned home to find the bathroom window broken and forced entry gained. She entered her home and found that her large flat screen television & a Huawei Mobile Phone was damaged. Several items including four (4) Hallmark watches, bank cards, jewellery, a Samsung J1 Mobile Phone, two (2) GHD Hair Straighteners and two (2) Singer Hairdryers were some of the items stolen. A resident in the area then informed her that her ex-boyfriend was seen leaving the premises with three (3) bags. He then left a bag a his friends home when he failed to carry the stolen items. These items were recovered on the day of the incident. The complainant then opened a criminal case.

Reaction Officers handed the suspect to Verulam SAPS. He was transported to a neighbouring station for detention after the Police premises was closed due to Covid-19 infections.
