The police in Polokwane have launched a manhunt for an unknown number of suspects who allegedly broke into a security company premises in Polokwane and stole 18 firearms. The incident took place between the night of 26 December and the early hours of 27 December 2020.
It is believed that the suspects forced opened the door with the unknown objects to gain entry into the premises. They then went to the safe and allegedly stole the said firearms, an unknown number of ammunition, and one computer with a keyboard.
Police investigations that are unfolding will also include a probe into whether or not these firearms were kept in accordance with the provisions governing the safekeeping of firearms.
The Acting Provincial Commissioner of police in Limpopo Major General Jan Scheepers has expressed his displeasure on this incident. “As we continue to fight against violent crimes perpetrated through firearms, we cannot afford to have these firearms landing in the wrong hands,” said General Scheepers.

A case of Burglary Business has been opened and police investigations are still continuing.
