The police in Westenburg have arrested a 27-year-old man believed to be the one who incited community members at Greenside Extension 44 to attack the police on Saturday, 02 January 2021. The suspect was arrested during a snap operation that was conducted in the same area.
Meanwhile, the 32-year-old suspect who was rearrested in the hospital where he was admitted after he was shot by the police when he allegedly threatened to stab one of them during his initial arrest together with the other three undocumented foreign nationals, has been discharged from hospital and is back in police cells.
Both suspects will appear in Polokwane Magistrates’ Court today facing charges of assault on police, incitement to commit crime, malicious damage to property, and escaping from lawful custody.
