Man caught with stolen copper cables

On 31 January 2021 at 12:00, Montclair SAPS received information about a group of men who were on the railway line between Starling Road Bridge and Sandpiper Bridge in Yellow Wood Park.

A joint operation comprising of Montclair SAPS, EThekwini Rapid Response, and PRASA was put in place. The team proceeded to the mentioned place and a suspect was found removing copper cables. The suspect was approached and placed under arrest.

The estimated street value of the recovered copper cables is R250 000-00. A 33-year-old suspect was charged for damaging essential infrastructure. He is expected to appear before the Durban Magistrates’ Court today.
