A 41 year old man was arrested by members of Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) shortly after he broke into a residence on Charnwood Drive in Riyadh, Verulam today (Thursday).
Reaction Officers responded to the home at approximately 16:17 after receiving a tip-off of a house break-in progress. On arrival Officers confirmed that the residence was broken into and several household items had been stolen.
A description of the suspects was obtained from the caller. Reaction Officers went in search of the burglars and spotted one individual matching the description in the vicinity of Waterloo Spar. He attempted to flee but was apprehended and placed under arrest. The Waterloo resident was found in possession of some of the stolen goods.
During an interview he informed Reaction Officers that his accomplices had fled in different directions after they left the property. The information was circulated to back up Officers who conducted a search for remaining suspects however no further arrests were made.
The suspect was placed under arrest and is currently detained at the Verulam SAPS.
