The body of a man with a gunshot wound to his abdomen was discovered by two young boys in a bush on Hazelmere Road in Redcliffe.
The boys aged 11 and 12 fled to a nearby residence and reported their findings to a female who contacted Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) for assistance. Reaction Officers and RUSA Medics were dispatched to the scene and on arrival found the Verulam SAPS in attendance.
Medics entered the bush and discovered the body in a stream approximately 30 meters from the road. Upon examination, the victim showed no signs of life and was declared deceased. His identity has been established.
It was confirmed that he was employed at a quarry in Redcliffe. Yesterday he did not report for duty. Information was received that he had visited his colleagues at work before midday.
