Anti-Gang Unit members arrested a 29-year-old suspect and recovered two firearms at a house in Nkadimeng Street in Kwadwesi during the early hours of this morning, 26 February 2021.
It is reported that at about 01:05, members acted on information received, and upon entering the property, they noticed a male attempting to flee through a bathroom window. The quick action displayed by the members forced the male to go back into the house. The garage door was forced opened and the suspect was caught hiding a 9mm firearm in his bedroom and a 7.65 pistol in the ceiling. The serial numbers of both firearms were filed off.
The suspect was detained on charges of illegal possession of firearms and ammunition.
He will appear in the Motherwell Magistrates’ Court on Monday, 01 March 2021.
