A 29-year-old man, Jack Musa Mthimunye was remanded in custody by the Mkobolo Magistrate’s Court today, 03 March 2021, as he appeared for allegations of killing a 27-year-old man by running him over with his car.
This incident happened today when a group of about six people was traveling in a vehicle at Mathysenloop in Kwaggafontein. Along the way, the driver stopped his vehicle and a scuffle broke between him (driver) and the 27-year-old man, which culminated into a physical fight. The victim is reported to have fallen on the ground, after which the driver, who is now a suspect on this matter, is said to have gone back into his car and drove over the victim then drove off, leaving the badly injured victim helpless.
The police and the medical personnel were notified about the incident and upon arrival, the victim was unfortunately certified dead. Meanwhile, the suspect was later arrested after he handed himself over to the Kwaggafontein Police Station, hence his court appearance.
His case was postponed to 11 March 2021, at the same court where he is expected to make a formal bail application.
