Police in Mpumalanga are probing an inquest case after a 38-year-old mother and her seven-year-old son were burnt to death. The incident took place at Masoyi near the White River on Saturday, 07 March 2021.
The woman’s husband told the police that he left the victims on Friday, 05 March 2021, and went to his friends. Upon his return to his family, he reportedly noticed with amazement as smoke gushed from the air bricks. He then broke the door to gain access and found the house reduced to ashes, while his wife and child lay motionless in the charred remains of the building. Police and paramedics were summoned to the house where the victims were unfortunately certified dead.
