Two suspects aged 43 and 44 were traced and arrested on Monday, 08 March 2021 for fraud and corruption in connection with roadworthy certificates syndicate.
Another suspect linked to this matter is still outstanding whilst the fourth reportedly passed on.
The Hawks’ Serious Corruption Investigation Team has implicated the syndicate in the processing of fraudulent vehicle roadworthy certificates.
These vehicles belonging to Western Cape-based owners were reportedly exempted from being physically tested at the testing station in Butterworth Roadworthy Testing Station in exchange for gratification. The duo is expected to appear at the Bellville Regional Court on 14 April 2021.
