Provincial Media Centre member, Sergeant Monatse Mamabolo visited his childhood school, donated items such as sanitary towels, personal protective equipment (PPE), paintings and gardening services to Makeketela Primary School in the Mankweng policing area outside the City of Polokwane.
This initiative forms part of the current Safer Schools awareness campaigns that are being conducted by the SAPS Provincial Corporate Communication and Liaison in Limpopo in partnership with various stakeholders across the province.
The ploughing back into the community campaign was supported by the Provincial Commander of Media Centre, Colonel Moatshe Ngoepe accompanied by Lieutenant Colonel Willy Mapaya, other members including the SAPS brass band and members from SAPS Mankweng. Also in attendance, were Mankweng Circuit office of the Department of Education, different stakeholders and community members.
Learners were encouraged to respect their teachers and school properties at all times but most importantly, to refrain from criminal activities as they will acquire criminal records which will have a negative effect on their future.
The school management, learners and members of the community at large were delighted and humbled by the gesture, more especially because the member assisted the school from his own pocket in order to restore hope into the lives of these youngsters and help improve the education at the school.
