Housebreaking Suspect Arrested: Verulam – KZN

A 24-year-old man was arrested by Reaction Officers while attempting to break into a residence on Russom Street In Verulam on Sunday.

The Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) Verulam Operations Centre received a call from the owner of the property at 07:09 who was at home when she noticed the individual jump over her boundary gate. The caller informed the controller on duty that the suspect had removed a t-shirt from the washing line and stole a pair of sandals. During the call, he proceeded to the front door and was attempting to force open the security gate.

All available Reaction Officers were dispatched to the residence and on arrival noticed the suspect attempting to force open the gate. Officers managed to apprehend and restrain the suspect. He was using stolen sandals and t-shirt. An inspection of a VW Caddy that was parked on the property was conducted and the locks were found to be tampered with.

The Inanda resident was handed over to Police and is detained by the Verulam SAPS.
