Ayanda ‘Scara’ Zaca (18) appeared before the Pinetown Magistrate’s Court on charges of carjacking and kidnapping. He was sentenced to 12 years imprisonment and was also declared unfit to possess a firearm.
On 28 October 2020 at 02:30, a 30-year-old man was driving along with Coffee Farm in KwaNdengezi when armed men accosted him. At gunpoint, he was assaulted and forced into the back of the vehicle. They took him to the Mpumalanga area where he was held captive in a house. The victim managed to escape and called his mother who reported the matter to the police.
An intensive investigation by KwaNdengezi detectives led to the arrest of the accused who was arrested at his home at Unit 3 in Mpumalanga. Zaca made several court appearances until he was convicted and sentenced.
