Our investigation into the circumstances surrounding a murder where a 41-year-old man was shot and killed in front of his child in his Thornton residence on Monday, 05 April 2021, led to the arrest of three suspects last night.
Information gathered at the time of the incident indicated that the assailants fled the scene in a hired vehicle with cloned number plates. With the assistance of the vehicle hire company, the silver Toyota Yaris was identified and tracked to Khayelitsha where members of our National Intervention Unit spotted the vehicle and apprehended the three occupants, aged 24, 25, and 25. All three are detained for the murder in Thornton while the 24-year-old suspect also faces an additional charge for the possession of drugs. The same vehicle has been linked to a recent house-breaking case in Grassy Park and a house robbery in Somerset West, and further charges against the suspects could soon be added.
All three suspects are due to make a court appearance on Goodwood on Monday, 12 April 2021 for the murder, while the additional drug charge will be heard in Khayelitsha court.
