The joint efforts between members of the Provincial Integrated Team and Mfuleni Crime Prevention Unit to ensure the safety of the community proved fruitful with the arrest of a suspect for being in possession of an unlicensed firearm.
Last night the forces took to the streets and conducted random searches. In Buffalo Street one such search led to the discovery of an unlicensed 9mm pistol, 19 rounds of ammunition, as well as liquor believed to be stock of an illegal shebeen.
The 44-year-old suspect has been detained until his court appearance in Blue Downs on Monday where he will face charges for the possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition and trading in liquor without a license.
