SAPS Mount Road members arrested four suspects soon after the complainant reported the incident at the police station on Saturday, 17 April 2021.
It is alleged that on Friday, 16 April 2021 at about 18:00, the 25-year-old complainant and her boyfriend were walking in Harrower Road in Kensington when they were approached by four males (two armed with knives and 2 with firearms). The lady was robbed of her cellphone. One of the suspects is known to her.
She reported the incident at the community service centre at SAPS Mount Road on Saturday afternoon, 17 April 2021. Members from the community service centre immediately started investigating and a 19-year-old suspect was arrested at a shop in Harrower Road. Further investigation revealed that the other three suspects were at a drug post in Holland Park. Back up was requested and the shift members were assisted by Mount Road Crime Prevention members. The CPU members arrested two suspects in Schauder Street and the third suspect at a house in Maple Square in Holland Park. The suspects are aged between 20 and 26 years old. The cellphone was not recovered.
The four suspects were detained on charges of robbery and are expected to appear in the Port Elizabeth magistrates’ court on Monday, 19 April 2021.
