Appeal for information that could lead to the arrest of police killers

The Provincial Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation (Hawks) is appealing to the Gqeberha community to come forward with any information that could lead to the apprehension of the alleged murder suspects of Detective Sergeant Luyanda Hopewell Hambile (44).

It is alleged that on 07 February 2020, Sergeant Hambile who was stationed at the Walmer SAPS in Gqeberha was off-duty in his residential premises on Magwalana Street in Motherwell when he was accosted by two unknown gunmen. They fired shots at him and fled the scene. The victim was rushed to hospital with gunshot wounds to the upper body and leg. He succumbed to his injuries on arrival.
