A 23-year-old female suffered minor injuries after she was run over on the M27 in the vicinity of Waterloo, Verulam today (Saturday).
As passerby contacted Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) at 06:49 requesting assistance for the pedestrian. The caller also informed the controller on duty that a white Nissan NP 300 bakkie that was involved in the accident drove off without stopping.
RUSA Members were dispatched to the scene and on arrival treated the woman for minor injuries. While attending to the pedestrian the bakkie involved in the accident was spotted by Metro
Police Officers driving past the scene. The vehicle was stopped and the driver was questioned in regards to him leaving the scene of the accident.
The pedestrian was transported to a local hospital by ambulance.
