The commitment of the Provincial Integrated Team to ensure the safety of the community was rewarded with the arrest of a suspect late last night in Nyanga. The members received a tipoff about an armed suspect and proceeded to his residence where he was arrested in possession of an unlicensed pistol and 17 rounds of ammunition. The 30-year-old man is scheduled to make his court appearance in Athlone tomorrow.
Meanwhile in Scottsdene, Kraaifontein a 15-year-old boy was arrested last night for being in possession of a handmade firearm, also referred to as a zip gun. Members of Kraaifontein police followed up on information from the public following a shooting incident in Willie Street and arrested the suspect not far from there in Koedoe Street. He is been processed in terms of the Children’s Act and is scheduled to make a court appearance in Blue Downs once he has been charged.
