Last night at about 18:00 police arrested a 32-year-old man for possession of unlicensed firearm and ammunition and a 23-year-old woman for possession of drugs at Mission Village, Butterworth.
Police were busy with Operation Vuthu Hawe in their policing precinct doing stop and search and patrols. During the stop and search patrols, they searched the suspect and found him in possession of an unlicensed firearm and ten(10) live ammunition.
In a separate incident during their tour of duty they arrested a female suspect for possession of drugs.
These suspects are appearing at Butterworth Magistrate Court today, 09 June 2021.
Amathole Acting District Commander Brigadier Ngangema Xakavu applauded the job well done by the members in ensuring that they root out criminal activities in ensuring safety in the community. “At least one firearm is confiscated by Police and lives are saved”, he added.
