Police are searching for three dangerous suspects who allegedly robbed a store and killed three people on Tuesday evening, 22 June 2021 at Esikwayini Locality, in Qumbu.
Information suggests that three armed balaclava-clad suspects arrived at a local store and demanded money from the shop owner. As suspects were running out of the shop, one of them was seen hiding a gun at his back. It is further alleged that other suspects became suspicious and started firing on the bystanders outside, some of whom were sitting around the fireplace.
During the incident, one of the suspects allegedly fell on the fire and as a result sustained injuries but managed to escape. Four people aged between 30 and 45 were shot, three of them died at the scene while one had to be rushed to a nearby hospital for medical attention. Cases of Business Robbery, Attempted Murder and Murder have been opened for investigation. No arrest has been made at this stage. Police investigations continue.
