On 19 June 2019 at 19:45, Mbongeni Ndlovu (46) was seated in his vehicle with a companion at Cornubia Flats in Verulam when two armed men allegedly attacked them. He sustained a gunshot wound on the head and died at the scene.
The suspect took the vehicle keys and they sped off with the victim’s car. Charges of murder and carjacking were opened for investigation at Verulam SAPS. The docket was transferred to the Political Task Team for further investigation.
The investigative team is appealing to members of the community to assist in locating Nkululeko “Nkulu” Phillip Maphumulo (27). A warrant for his arrest was issued by the court and reward of up to R20 000-00 has been offered to anyone who may have any information that will lead to his arrest.
