The presence of members attached to Lockdown II yielded success in crime-affected areas last night.
Members were conducting stop and searches in Makhaza, Harare when they noticed a suspicious-looking male sitting inside a white Toyota Corolla. They stopped and searched him and the vehicle, and found two 9mm magazines with rounds of ammunition in his possession. The members then interrogated the suspect about him being in possession of ammunition and magazines of which he could not produce a valid license and the whereabouts of the firearms.
After receiving enough information they proceeded to the suspect’s house and found two 9mm pistols without serial numbers. The 30-year-old suspect was arrested for possession of prohibited firearms and ammunition and detained.
In an unrelated matter, the members received information about a house in Wesbank, Mfuleni where drugs are sold. They operationalised the information and upon arrival at the premises, they searched the flat and found 10 gram of tik valued at R1000-00 on the suspect. A 30-year-old man was arrested for possession of drugs and detained.
Once charged, the suspects are expected to make their court appearances in Khayelitsha and Blue Downs.
