Five men are being sought after they robbed a liquor outlet on Maharaj Road in Gandhis Hill, Tongaat this afternoon (Friday).
Members of Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) were dispatched to the scene at approximately 18:13 after receiving reports of shots being fired. On arrival, Reaction Officers were informed that five men had entered the business under the pretence of purchasing alcohol.
One of the men produced a firearm and held up employees while his accomplices stole alcohol and cash from the tills. Shots were fired by the robbers as they exited the store. According to witnesses, the suspects sped off in a green Toyota Run X. Several broken bottles of liquor and a spent 9mm cartridge was discovered in the vicinity of where the getaway vehicle was parked.
No injuries were reported.
