As part of the ongoing Multi-disciplinary approach operation conducted throughout the province, 674 more people found themselves in the wrong side of the law.
155 people were arrested for contact crimes such as murder, GBV and rape, 11 arrested for robbery, 75 for property related crimes, 305 for liquor related and 139 for drug related crimes. Drugs such as dagga, nyaope, khat and crystal meth, 8 firearms, 181 ammunitions and 3 suspected stolen vehicles were confiscated. 943 liquor outlets were visited for compliance including 122 second hand goods shops.
Other arrests include possession of suspected stolen property, possession of dangerous weapons, stock theft, malicious damage to property and burglary. 2047 fines were issued for contravention of the national roads traffic act, contravention of the liquor Act and non-compliance.
All 674 suspects will appear in their different magistrate courts for different charges. This will take place in different towns throughout the Free State.
