The vigilance and the swift reaction of members of the West Coast K9 Unit and Flying Squad led to the arrest of two suspects last night. The K9 Unit members spotted a vehicle under suspicious circumstances on the R27 and requested the assistance of the Flying Squad in their pursuit of the fleeing driver after a parcel was thrown out of the window.
The vehicle was pulled over in Saldanha and after a search of the area where the parcel was thrown out, 1,368kg of tik with an estimated street value of R410 400-00 was discovered. The two suspects are expected to make their court appearance for the possession of drugs once they have been charged.
In an unrelated matter, two suspects were arrested on Tuesday after they were arrested in possession of a stolen Izuzu LDV in Stofland, De Doorns. Two De Doorns detectives who were patrolling the area came across three men stripping a vehicle. One of the suspects fled while two were arrested.
Further investigation revealed that the vehicle had been stolen in Harare earlier this month. The suspects are due to appear in court once they have been charged, while the third one is being sought.
