As things begin to calm, and we are able to take a moment to breathe, we can start to take inventory of what we have endured over the last week.
Our Durban team has received hundreds of calls for urgent assistance across the city. We have responded to calls ranging from multiple gunshot incidents, assaults, motor vehicle accidents, stabbings, and structural fires, too, childbirth and of course, the added numerous calls relating to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Working extended hours to assist, they have, during the course of their duties, come under fire from high caliber firearms, endured racism and prejudice, and yet, have continued to serve those in need.
We are grateful to report that we have suffered no damage to our fleet or any injury to staff.
Although we as a nation may be hurting, we will rebuild together.
