Concerted efforts and vigilance by strategically deployed members of the Eden Cluster Crime Combatting Team along the N2 in the Southern Cape landed a 35-year-old man behind bars after he was found to be unlawful in possession of a firearm and ammunition.
In the early hours of this morning, Monday 19 July 2021, members deployed at a vehicle checkpoint (VCP) near the Tsitsikamma Tollgate pulled over a suspicious vehicle and upon searching the vehicle, found a 9mm pistol and a magazine with 7 rounds as well as a shotgun round in possession of the suspect. The firearm with live rounds and the magazine was confiscated and handed in as evidence.
The suspect was arrested on the spot and detained. He is scheduled to make his first court appearance in the Plettenberg Bay Magistrates’ court once charged with the Unlawful/Illegal Possession of a Firearm and Ammunition.
